Venice and the Veneto
Depicted and described so often that its image has become part of the European collective consciousness, Venice can initially create the slightly anticlimactic feeling that everything looks exactly as it should. The water-lapped palaces along the Canal Grande are just as the brochure photographs made them out to be, Piazza San Marco does indeed look as perfect as a film set, and the panorama across the water from the Palazzo Ducale is precisely as Canaletto painted it......

"Time Out" Venice Guide
If you were to ask someone what they thought of Venice, they would probably say: gondolas, architecture, romance, winding streets and, of course, ice cream. However, for some the very thought of a stay in Venice and its effect on their credit-card statement can send them reeling.

Venice (Europe Popout Maps)
Brilliant. Just returned from a weekend there and this was an excellent map. The wider area is covered on the left side with close detail on the right. Folded away neatly every time. Although many people in Venice spoke English for asking directions, I didn't feel too touristy breaking out this map often. Good too, that the major sights are marked on it.and also around the edges, to help you identify what to see...
